A defender who is equally comfortable playing at the heart of defence or at right back.
A successful first full season with the Academy in 2008/09 saw 'Jonesy' make eight appearances for the Reserves and trained with the first-team squad.
This Lancashire lad will be looking to build on last season's impressive displays by cementing a place in Iain Brunskill's Reserve squad.
Featured for the first team in their pre-season match against Dundee United and was awarded squad number 28 in August 2009.
His first team debut came away at Nottingham Forest in the Carling Cup, with the young defender putting in a man-of-the-match performance at the heart of the Rovers defence.
