A popular character both on and off the field, Steinsson has made the right-back spot his own, fully justifying the £3.5m price tag he commanded when the club recruited him from Dutch side AZ Alkmar.
The Icelander also has a reputation for scoring spectacular goals, having opened his account for the club with a stunning long-range cross-come-shot in the 3-1 victory over Stoke City on the opening day of the 2008/9 season. He had to wait the best part of 36 Premier League matches to notch his second strike of the campaign, but that too was a 25-yard screamer against Hull City.
His presence in Wanderers' squad continues the club's recent Icelandic tradition, following on from Eidur Gudjohnsen, Gudni Bergsson and Arnar Gunnlaugsson.
